Natural Habitat :

It is a very common species across the world. It is photophilic and grows level with the rock base and up to 20m. It can also sometimes be found in basins.

Harvest :

This perennial alga forms thick, tubular strong cords reaching around 30cm in length and 8mm-1cm in diameter. It is a dark bottle green and has a sponge-like texture. At certain points throughout the year, usually in summer, it is covered in short hairs, like a white felt or fur. The base is formed of many fairly coarse filaments, interlaced and solidly encrusted, or built into a substratum.
